It’s Not Just Back to School Time; Let’s Make it Back to Self-Care Time | Michigan Boudoir

I will fully admit that I am not a summer kind of gal. I mean, I love the longer days and not always having to wear a winter coat, but the heat and humidity kind of saps my soul and it leaves me feeling a bit disheveled. So now that the weather has turned a bit cooler and fall, my favorite season is upon us, I’m trying to get back into a better self-care regime.
How about you? The kids are back in school, so have you taken some time for yourself in these past six weeks or so, (has it really already been 2 months?) while we are all trying to adjust to the new schedule? And by time for yourself I don’t mean swinging through Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte, that’s just self-preservation! I’m talking about the kind of self-care that feeds your soul.
· Reading a book. ALONE
· Taking a long bath with all sorts of yummy smelling things
· Taking a walk and listening to an inspirational podcast
· Going and getting a massage or a facial
· Taking up a hobby you’ve always wanted to try
So often when I am photographing a boudoir session, clients admit to me that this is the first time in a long time (sometimes a very long time) that they have taken time for themselves. As women, we often put everyone, even the family dog in front of ourselves.
