Susan K.'s Story

Discovering Strength Through Struggles

​

My name is Susan K., and my journey has been one of resilience and empowerment. I am a mother, a friend, and a woman who has faced immense challenges. My story is one of survival and transformation, and I hope it connects with other women who may be facing their own battles.

​

In 2009, my life took an unexpected turn when I underwent back surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery left me with a crushed left leg and lifelong chronic pain. It took a year of intense physical therapy to learn to walk again, and I relied on a cane for ten years. I used to find solace in the thought that, at least, it wasn't something terminal like cancer. But then, three years ago, my world was shaken once more.

Facing Cancer with Courage

​

I was diagnosed with cancer in my left breast. The news was devastating, but I faced it head-on. After a year of treatment, including radiation and chemotherapy, I hoped the worst was behind me. However, during my annual mammogram, cancer was discovered in my right breast. Another round of treatment followed, which included an oophorectomy and a double mastectomy.

​

The past three years have been filled with surgeries, treatments, and a rollercoaster of emotions. I've had extensive reconstruction and am currently awaiting nipple tattoos to complete this chapter of my life. Today, I am proud to say that I am cancer-free. Reaching out to Alter Ego Boudoir was a decision to capture this triumphant moment in my journey, and I plan to do it again once my nipple tattoos are complete.

Embracing Vulnerability and Beauty

​

Before my shoot with Alter Ego, I was nervous. My body had changed drastically due to chronic pain and cancer treatments. However, I relied on my strength and faith and decided to embrace the process fully.

On the day of the shoot, my nerves were calmed by the incredible team. They made me feel confident and beautiful. With my hair and makeup done, and my carefully chosen outfits, I felt a sense of empowerment that I hadn't felt in a long time.

Rediscovering Confidence

​

Seeing my photos for the first time was a moment of revelation. I was nervous but excited. The images captured a beauty and sensuality I thought I'd lost. It reaffirmed my worth and reminded me that, despite everything, I am still beautiful and strong.

This experience has transformed how I see myself. I feel more confident and beautiful, and I am incredibly appreciative of the process and the stunning results. I can't wait to capture my journey again once my nipple tattoos are completed.

To all the women out there, especially those who have faced life-changing and body-altering experiences, I want you to know that a boudoir photoshoot can be a powerful reaffirmation of your beauty and worth. It has been life-altering for me, and it can be for you too.
