Top 12 Most Frequently Asked Questions about Boudoir Photography:What Women are Asking Us

Updated: May 7

Boudoir Photography - Frequently Asked Questions The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!

Do you share my images? We have many women who are eager to share their photos, and others prefer not to. Our number 1 priority is making sure our clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir! It can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking! Sometimes, you are learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world, or sometimes these photos are specifically for your spouse and aren’t for anyone else’s eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, and it all depends on your personal preferences. There is no judgment here. Do I have to wear lingerie? You definitely don’t have to specifically wear lingerie, it depends on your personality! There are a BUNCH of outfit ideas other than lacy little things! Head over to this blog about choosing outfits to see some more ideas!

Do you have payment plans? We offer a few payment options! There is a session fee to book your shoot and then later, after your session you will place an order for exactly the photos you love and want to keep. Most women pay their session fee in full. If you prefer to break up that fee and make payments towards your photoshoot, not a problem. Let me know if this is something you want to set up! We also have payment plans available for your print order. This is treated like a layaway. Once it is paid off, then you can receive your images. Is hair and makeup included? Hair and makeup is included in all our boudoir shoots! I think it’s really important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that! Our amazing team can help you complete your look, whether that’s “I just woke up like this” or Full of glam! You can bring any ideas you want for your makeup and we can use it for inspiration.

Do you Photoshop my images? I do edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance. I also get your input on how you’d like to be edited. Everyone gets a light skin smoothing (because these pro-camera tend to show every pore and we really don’t want that much detail) You’ll also notice that the ladies here don’t have cellulite or stretch marks in their images. No one really sees them in real life anyway, well no one except your biggest critic - you! Plus, we are really good with posing and lighting you so they don’t really show up in the first place. If you prefer we don’t eliminate these things, we won’t. Around here, you get celebrity treatment! All the celebrities get the luxury of extra skin smoothing and some body tightening. Why should they be the only ones having all the fun (and perfect photos)?! We can make things bigger, make things smaller, and make things disappear. Just like magic. Where should I buy outfits? There are a few places to buy outfits from and it depends on what you are getting and the style of your shoot. Here is a long list to choose from with different style and sizing. Victoria’s Secret, AdoreMe.com, Torrid, eberjay.com, Forever21, foreveryourslingerie.ca, hipsandcurves.com, Naughty and Nice, Lover’s Lane, and The Busted Bra Shop. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I might know where to get it.

What type of print products do you have?

We offer a variety of luxury and classic albums that are fully customizable to fit your personality, as well as wall art and additional keepsakes to display your images in and around your home. Yes, women do put their photos out so they can have a daily reminder of their self-worth. It is especially important on those days when we feel *blah* and may be beating ourselves up over what we think we should look like or be acting like, versus what we know we deserve. One of our most popular keepsakes is the retro reel. Think old school viewmaster with your boudoir images hidden inside. It’s like having your own personal peep show! Are you a sports fan? Why not put your photos on a football, a baseball, or one of our other sports equipment products. There really is something for everyone. Do you offer digitals?

All of our Collections offer some sort of print product, many also include digital copies of your selected images. If you select a package without the digital files already available in it, there is an option to add on digital images. There is also an A La Carte list that you can choose digital files from as well.

I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?

Nerves are all part of the experience! I always say that it would probably be weird if you WEREN’T nervous. The nervousness in the beginning of your shoot helps make your moment of “WOW” seeing your photos for the first time so much better!

How many outfits should I bring?

This depends on your package. The Quickie Session is 1-2 outfits, the Dream is up to 3 outfits and the Alter Ego package can be up to 5 outfits. Feel free to bring more if you need help deciding.

Should I get to my shoot early?

You should always plan on getting to your shoot about 10 minutes early so we acn talk about your outfits and colors and make a plan for makeup. Please be mindful to not come more then 10 minutes early, as we may be with another client at that time.
